I have shopped at HomeSense ever since it opened in Waterloo, however after today’s experience I will not be going back any time soon. I wanted to buy a bench and was informed that the bench was part of a headboard and bench set that had been discounted. I was informed that the bench was part of a set, and offered to pay the full price for the set but did not want the headboard, I only wanted the bench. After being passed from one supervisor to another, I was told that would not be possible. I explained that I will gladly pay for the both items, but I had no need for the headboard nor did I have a vehicle big enough to transport it. Again I was told I would have to take both. When I asked if I could throw the headboard into the dumpster or leave it next to the dumpster for someone else to take, I was told they did not have a dumpster. I then asked what they did with their broken items and was told they are reduced in price and sold. There was no way they would let me leave with only the bench even if I paid the full amount asked for the set. One, the logic of this position escaped me. And two, when I left the store without the bench, I noticed a huge dumpster right next to their loading area. The HomeSense representative outright lied to me. I will not go back to this store because of their ridiculous position but more importantly, because they lied. I am very disappointed and no longer trust this store.
